Don't Quit

Think of a job. You’re told that if you work for 10 hours, you’re going to get paid for 10 hours of work. You do your 10 hours, you get paid, so you keep working. It’s fair.⠀

Now imagine if you didn’t get paid. And then maybe next week you only get paid for one week of work. What do you do? Quit, naturally, and the same logic is why most people give up on working out.⠀

If you’re going to the gym 3 days a week for a month and don’t look any different, why would you keep working out? You assume that “oh working out just doesn’t work for me” or “oh I’m a ‘hardgainer'” or “well I just wasn’t born to look like that” but in reality you just needed to fix up a habit or two- coaches are there to help you get "paid" - seeing the results you set out to see, and feeling the best you have ever felt, is the pay for your effort. A safe PROGRAM, knowledgeable COACHES, and CONSISTENCY are your tools! ⠀

Each and every failure that we go through makes us stronger and ready for a bigger challenge.⠀

Depending on the person, the challenge can mean to slow down, to think longer next time, or to refocus, to plan and make sure that we are maintaining momentum in a desired direction. ⠀
Whatever the challenge is, look for the lesson, and if you perceive an outcome as a "failure", use that as a lesson too- to come up with a new action-plan that gets you the results you actually want next time. ⠀

Fitness isn't a seasonal hobby, it's a lifestyle

You shouldn’t turn to fitness because it is spring time and you want to get in shape for the summer. 🌞⠀

First, this is a goal that is short-term; what happens when Summer is over? 🥶⠀

Second, it is an outcome-oriented goal where your sense of success is dependent on whether or not you are "in shape" by that time, or not. ⠀

Thirdly, it is a goal without a measureable metric; how do you know you have achieved your goal?- what does "in shape" mean to you? 📏⠀

There are a lot of 🔑 components missing in a goal like this, and it does not set you up for long-term success. ⠀
We are not saying having these process-goals, or checkpoints to see where you are in your overall goal is a bad thing! But what we are saying is there should be a broader-picture "goal" - a deep reason for why you are doing it in the first place. ⠀

What we need to do is cultivate a lifestyle where fitness is just PART of what you do and who you are. ⠀
⓵- Answer the Question: why is being fit important to you? ⠀

②-Make it a Daily Habit⠀
.⠀
We need to make fitness part of your daily routine so it isn’t “something you have to do” in order to get in shape for any particular reason. ⠀
Fitness should just be “something you do” ✅⠀

We need to build weeks and weeks upon each other, where we remain realistic and flexible but keep the mentality of "this is for the long-haul" in mind ✅ ⠀
There will be ups and there will definitely be downs, but the key is to ride them out as best as possible. ⠀
After sticking to this for a period of months, then it begins to be routine, and you stop thinking about it. ⠀
Then fitness is truly a lifestyle for you and no longer a hobby.⠀

Out of the 45 percent of people who make New Year's resolutions each year, only 8 percent actually succeed. Of the most popular types of resolutions, the two highest involve some level of fitness or healthy lifestyle adoption, with 47 percent of people making vows to self-improve and another 38 percent making weight-related goals.⠀


Of course, if it were easy, everyone would be the fittest versions of themselves, but the key to staying committed to fitness goals is finding your favorite form of movement that makes your heart rate go up, lets you work up a sweat, and doing it regularly, and remembering WHY it's important to you to BE FIT. ⠀
Another key that is also just as simple, but not easy, is nutrition! Eat-in a way that makes sense! If you feel bad after eating certain foods (stomach hurts, allergies, sluggish, etc) then don't eat that food. Try to eat as many natural, whole foods as possible! Try to avoid packaged or wrapped food and add in lots of greens! ⠀.⠀

DOES THE OPPORTUNITY EVER COME?⠀
Sometimes it does, but sometimes it doesn’t, or more to the point, not exactly as we imagined. For example, it might come at a time that doesn’t appear right for us. We might not recognise it in the form it presents itself to us. Or when it eventually appears we might not think we are ready for it due to fear.⠀
