The row test is like the story of the king who put on a contest to find the ultimate strongest man in the world. He put on a great challenge and said that any man who completed it, would win a prize of becoming king. ๐ ๐คด
The challenge was to walk up 500 steps wearing his royal metal armor. ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ผโโ๏ธ
People from around the world came to try- the best athletes, the hardest workers, the greatest military victors. Most competitors stopped after 2 steps- they saw no way to make it up 498 more! They said the challenge was rigged- the steps were too high, and the armor too heavy. ๐ฅต ๐ก
Towards the end of the day, a man showed up. He took the first step and realized how difficult it would be! โJust focus on one step,โ he told himself, โnot the rest.โ
So he stepped onto the second. โAll you have to do is focus on one stepโ
As he moved past the 3rd and 4th step he noticed the armor was getting lighter! ๐ถ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ผ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
By the end when the king congratulated him for completing the 500 steps, he explained:
"I wanted to reward the person who could make it through challenge, not by sheer strength, but by heart, mental focus, and a resilient mindset." ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ
The row test is a brutal 500 step challenge where each meter, each stroke, each average 500-meter pace is setting the tone of your mindset for the remainder of that test.
Read that again. ๐คฏ
The lesson: Keep your mind on a short leash. Focus on one thing at a time. Go in with your ultimate goal in mind.

The word โ๐ฃ๐ธ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ช๐ท๐ฌ๐ฎโ goes beyond what the energy system is describing. ๐ค
Looking into what that โ๐ฃ๐ธ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ช๐ท๐ฌ๐ฎโ can do for us emotionally and mentally can be compared to a treeโs growth.
Imagine you are a tree.
You get the comfy experience of being raised indoors, in a nice pot where youโre watered daily or as much as you need. Youโre protected from the rain, youโre sheltered from extreme heat. You get the luxury of perfect temperature year-round and never have to worry or strive.
But a tree of the same exact species planted outside in its natural habitat, instead of raised indoors, may grow much larger than the indoor tree.
Why?
Because through โweathering the stormโ, through adversity, perseverance, and challenge, the tree builds tolerance and hardiness to its life which is the outside world.
It is in the treeโs nature and inherent abilities to combat the ups and downs of life. The outside tree also grows as high as it can, reaching towards the sun, feeling the fresh air of nature, and it feels fully alive. ๐ฃ
When we donโt face challenges or hardship, we donโt get to experience the reward of knowing our own potential for growth.
Next time you face ๐๐ช๐ฌ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฌ ๐ฃ๐ธ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ช๐ท๐ฌ๐ฎ, think of this story. And maybe say to yourself, โIโm not an indoor tree!โ

Ten years later she became the first woman to play in a men's professional league.
She was also the first woman to win a million as a basketball player. ๐ฏ
Lieberman was born in Brooklyn, New York and played basketball with boys in the neighborhood.
When her mother would scold her for not being ladylike, Lieberman said she answers with her hands on her hips and say :

Everyone goes into the ใ๏ผต๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ ๏ฝใ๏ผฌ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ ๏ฝใ๏ผฅ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ ใT๏ฝ ๏ฝ๏ฝใ with a plan; how many sets they will do, when they will take breaks, what they can and canโt do unbroken.
The problem is, that often that plan does not play out once theyโre actually in the test itself!
This problem is like the story of the frog who was in a pot of water. He sat in the water, all was good.
The heat was turned up a tiny bit, but he didnโt notice- all still seemed good!
The heat increased and increased, little by little, and before he knew it he was being boiled alive!
If the frog was noticing changes, and tuned in to what was happening in his environment and body, he would have hopped out before it was too late.
Upper Lower Endurance works very much this same way. The muscle fatigue creeps up in a very subtle way!
Will you pass the test of fatiguing specific muscle groups and adapt the plan?
Or will you realize only after you failed a push-up or handstand push-up that itโs โtoo lateโ?
Pay attention to the signals of your body- if a rep becomes โgrindyโ you might be on the verge of hitting failure!
You want each set to feel crisp.
You want to take short breaks between sets to allow the muscles to โcool offโ and recover.
You want to notice changes in the โtemperature,โ so the water doesnโt get to boiling!
Starting out with a plan is great, but when youโre in the โpot of waterโ (doing that workout) is when the โtemperatureโ (the original plan) may change on you. Be aware!

๐๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐ก๐ค๐๐ช was the heavyweight world champion for seven years in a row. At his peak, he was also one of the most well-known celebrities in the states!
Heโs been awarded many halls of fame and was named the best boxer of the first half of the 20th century in 1951.
Due to his familyโs very low income, he was unable to attend school after 8 and began working on the family Colorado farm until 16 when he decided he wanted to seek out a better life for himself.
He lived in homeless shelters, barely making enough money to feed himself by competing in local bars. Eventually, he was able to hire a manager, and for most of the 1920s, Dempsey was both the most successful and the most famous boxer on the planet.
He opened a restaurant in his later years, and at 78 years old knocked out a mugger with a left hook.
Dempsey is an example of perseverance, individuality, and hardiness.

The person who goes all-out on the first round is like the hare; the hare believed he was so fast and likely to win, he made so much headway in the race against the tortoise, that he realized he didnโt have to go so fast in the second half of the race, so he took a nap. ๐ด
Little did he suspect that the tortoise's sustained pace would allow him to win. ๐ฃ
Now, itโs not like anyone going into API is going to take a nap, or slack off in any way- but the mistake people make is like the hare- being overconfident, and going too hard in the beginning. ๐ฉ
The tortoise strategy is a winning one because it accounts for the whole stretch of the race, and builds a sustainable pace with that distance in mind. ๐
The tortoise didnโt let his eagerness to win take him out of his zone- he stayed on track and took smooth, persistent, and steady steps. ๐ฏ
